WORKSHOP (LAUNDRY)

2010 Rajbas, Kavrepalanchok, Nepal

Earth & bamboo construction workshop was run in a village of Rajbas, Kavre, Nepal in the November 2010. The objective was to get the designing team some hands-on experience necessary for future school constructions. During a month-long work, we learnt the basics of the technologies of adobe bricks, rammed earth, cob walling and bamboo treating and joining. We also got a hint of the challenges of collaboration with local workmen. As a result, a small laundry unit for a rural hospital was erected and outdoor areas were amended with some benches and paved surfaces.
